After last successful edition in Stockholm, with over 120 biomass specialists and nearly 30 excellent speakers, it is a pleasure to invite you to the 8th European Conference Biomass PowerON taking place on 7-8 October 2026. This year the event is coming back to Stockholm, Sweden.

Biomass is key to a low-carbon future, offering sustainable solutions for energy, fuels, and bio-based products while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Negative-emission bioenergy technologies, like bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), enhance energy system flexibility and integrate renewables.

The 8th Biomass PowerON programme explores biomass resources, sustainability, policies, and advanced conversion technologies. Key themes include biomass for heat and power, bioenergy’s role in decarbonisation, and the forest industry’s response to increasing wood biomass demand. Discussions will also focus on EU policy impacts on the bioenergy sector, spotlighting legislation’s influence on green solutions and biomass integration into a sustainable energy system.

Site Visit – 6th October

On the day before the main event, on the 6th October 2026, a limited number of participants will have the exclusive opportunity to visit the E.ON Högbytorp facility. The tour is organized thanks to E.ON.

Register your interest in the site visit when booking your ticket. Participation is free of charge, and spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
To sign up, please add “I would like to join the site visit” in the “More Information” section during registration.

The E.ON Högbytorp plant is a fully integrated recycling and energy recovery facility and a practical example of energy production in a circular economy. It produces 590 GWh of energy annually, enough to supply thousands of homes with electricity and district heating. Metals are recovered and hazardous substances removed, reducing landfill and supporting resource efficiency.
Site visit to the E.ON Högbytorp plant offers insight into modern energy and recycling systems. Participants will see how energy recovery and material reuse reduce environmental impact and support sustainable development.
